Mrs. Eni : These are the temples. The tallest temple is Siva Temple. It’s 47 m height. Peter : Wow, that’s so tall. Can you explain more about the Prambanan Temple? Mrs. Eni : Sure, what do you want to know? Peter : Can you explain about the history of the temple? When was the temple built? Mrs. Eni : It was built in year 850. Peter : Who built the temple? Mrs. Eni : The king of Mataram, King Rakai Pikatan. Peter : Oh, I see. Then, what are the names of these three temples? Mrs. Eni : In the middle you see Siva Temple. The smaller temple to the north is Vishnu Temple, and in the south is Brahma temple. Peter : Who are Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma? Mrs. Eni : They are Gods from Hindu. It is called “Tri Murti” three Gods. Brahma as the creator, Vishnu as the Sustainer, and Shiva as the Destroyer. These temples were the place to worship the Gods. Peter : Oh..., it’s interesting. So, these temples are Hindu’s temple? Mrs. Eni : Yes, they are. Prambanan Temple is the tallest and the most beautiful Hindu temple in Indonesia. Peter : Hmm..., then I read in this brochure about the history of Roro Jonggrang. Who is Roro Jonggrang? Mrs. Eni : Based on the legend, she is the daughter of King Boko. Roro Jonggrang is dedicated to Shiva. That’s why Shiva temple is also well known as Roro Jonggrang temple. Peter : I see... what about the carving on the wall? Like what I see in this brochure. What does it mean? Mrs. Eni : It is called relief. The relief in Brahma and Shiva temple tells the story of Ramayana, while the one in Vishnu temple tells the story of Krisnayana. Peter : Oh, I can’t wait to see it. If I want to buy some souvenirs, where can I buy it? Mrs. Eni : You can buy it in souvenirs store. It is in front of Prambanan Park. Peter : Thank you for your explanation. I’ll go to temple. Mrs. Eni : You’re welcome Sir.
