2. Learning Media
a. Definitions of Learning Media
According to R. Abraham and Nana Syaodih S. in Rusman 2012: 64 media is anything that can be used to deliver messages learning
materials, stimulate mind, feelings, concerns and students’s ability, so it
can be encourage learning process. Learning media is tool or forms of stimulus whose function is delivering learning message. Forms of stimulus
that could be used as media i.e. relationship or human interaction, reality, moving images or not, writing, and recorded sound. The utilization of
media has objectives to motivate students. Media also should stimulate students to remember what they have learned and providing new learning
stimulus. Meanwhile, according to Arsyad 2002
word “media” comes from Latin
language “medius” which literally means middle, intermediate, or introduction. Media is everything that people use to deliver the message.
Media can be defined as tools to provide stimulus for students so learning process will occur because media is one of communication components,
i.e as messenger from communicator to communicant. Azhar Arsyad 2002 also suggested that practical benefits of using learning media in
learning process is able to clarify presentation of message and information so it can facilitate and improve learning process and learning results.
Arief S. Sadiman in Rusman 2009: 162 said that media is all of physical tools that can delivering message and stimulate students to learn,
such as movies, books and tapes. Based on definition above, it can be concluded that media is tool used as an intermediary in learning process,
which help teachers to deliver learning materials and attract students to learn.
Learning media defined by Gagne and Reiser 1983 as physical tools which instructional messages will be communicated. So an
instructor, printed book, movie or tape recorder and other physical tolls that communicate instructional message called media Mulyani Sumantri,
2001: 150. Dinje Bowman Rumupuk defines learning media as each tools, both software and hardware that is used as communication media
and its aim to improve effectiveness of learning process Mulyani Sumantri, 2001: 152. Learning media can help students to improve
understanding, presenting attractive and reliable data, facilitate data interpretation and condense information Azhar Arsyad, 2002: 15-16.
Based on description above it can be concluded that learning media are media to delivering messages or information that aims to facilitate
learning process and can distribute information from the teacher to the students, so it can stimulate the mind, feelings, concerns and interests of
students, finally make student doing learning activities.
b. Media Position in Learning

Learning media have an important position in learning system. Media as a communication tools between communicator to communicant, so media is
a distributor learning information or learning message. Without media, communication will not occur and learning process as a communication
process will not held optimally.
c. Functions and Benefits of Learning Media
Learning media according to Levie Lentz 1982 in Arsyad 2011: 16-17, as follows:
