In the source text, ‘bangkusekolah’ associates with school. However, in the target text, it is translated into ‘school’ which has general expression. That is why the technique applied in translating metonymy is called generalization. The result of translation product shows partly equivalent expression. SE :Berbeda dengan Mas Mul, Daus adalah anak muda yang baru saja melepas seragam putih abu-abunya. TE : Unlike Mas Mul, Daus was a young boy who had only recently stopped wearing his high school uniform. Datum No.204: 204Mn--GnPE The second example, there is no difference in translating metonymy. In the source t ext, the phrase ‘seragam putih abu-abu’ means uniform in white and grey. It is commonly used by Indonesian to address high school uniform because of the color. However, in the target text, it has different style. That is why the result of translation product is considered as partly equivalent.

f. Synecdoche

Synecdoche is the last figurative language of Guerra’s classification. Based on the data findings, it appears one time or 0.39 of 258 data. The technique applied is literal translation which present fully equivalent expression as the result of translation product quality. The example below will be explained deeply. SE :“New York tengah sibuk mempersiapkan pesta kembang api di beberapa sudut kota untuk merayakan hari kemerdekaan .” TE : “New York is getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July and shooting fireworks into the sky from every corner in the city.” Datum No.1: 001Sn-SnLTFE The example above is taken from datum 001Sn-SnLTFEcategorized as synecdoche. The reason for categorizing New York is that the name of city shows the representation of citizen of New York. In other words, New York is used to present the part of whole of people . It is common to mention people by their nation which represents people.
