Let Us Try Keep In Mind Practice All This Way Use What You Have Learned

There are four parts in each unit. Those parts are Let Us Try, Keep In Mind , Practice All This Way, and Use What You Have Learned. The explanation for each part is as follows.

1. Let Us Try

The first section deals with the preparation before entering the main materials. It consists of some conversations. The learners are asked to read and practice it with their friend. This is aimed to help the learners to get a description about the languages used in the conversation and learn how to act as in the real situation.

2. Keep In Mind

The second section deals with the main activities of the designed materials. This section contains some expressions and vocabulary games that are related to the language function and the conversation given. This is aimed to help the learners understand and then, produce the correct form of utterances based on the language function. The learners are asked to read and practice saying the expressions and vocabulary items given.

3. Practice All This Way

The third section deals with completing exercises activities. This section is aimed to improve the learners’ understanding about the related topic being discussed since the exercises used are based on the topic. The learners are expected to be able to do some exercises. The exercises are about the expressions and vocabulary items used in the conversation.

4. Use What You Have Learned

The fourth section deals with the kinds of the activities based on the objective of the study, which is to make the learners be able to speak English. The exercises are in form of pair work, take turn, games, group work, and mini role play. The exercises force them to practice communicating with others using the expressions and words, which have been learned in the previous section. From the description above, the writer summarized that the designed materials had some strengths, such as well developed, creative, sufficient, and interesting. The results of the survey of the designed materials showed that the mean ranged from 3.2 up to 4.6 on the scale of 5.00. This meant that the designed materials were acceptable to be used for the Registration and Information staff of Panti Rapih Hospital. The complete final version of the designed materials is presented in Appendix K. 83

CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND DISCUSSIONS

This chapter consists of two main parts, namely conclusions and suggestions. The first part deals with conclusions of the study. The second parts deals with the suggestions that are expected to help English instructor for Registration and Information staff of a hospital and future researchers.

A. Conclusions

The study was to design English instructional speaking materials for Registration and Information staff of Panti Rapih Hospital. As stated in problem formulation, this study was aimed to find out how a set of English instructional speaking materials for Registration and Information staff of Panti Rapih Hospital was designed and to present the English instructional speaking materials. Therefore, the first question stated in problem formulation deals with the steps of the designing materials and the second question concerns with the presentation of the designed materials. In order to answer the first question, the writer employed Research and Development R D method. R D consists of ten steps, but the writer only employed step one up to step five. Those steps are 1 research and information collecting, 2 planning, 3 developing preliminary form of product, 4 preliminary field testing, and 5 main product revision.
