A Translation Analysis of Exclamatory Sentences based on the Technique of Adjustment in the novel of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into Harry Potter dan Relikui Kematian by Agustriani 2011 The research aims to find out the technique of adjustments, the purposes of applying technique of adjustments and accuracy and acceptability of the translation of exclamatory sentences in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows . The findings show that the most dominant technique of adjustment used by the translator is in terms of alteration which amounts to 51.2. Technique of adjustment in terms of substraction taken the second place with 21.5. The third major technique of adjustment used is in terms of addition with 19.8, followed by the technique of adjustment used is in terms of substraction and alteration with 5.8 of 121 data and the last is in terms of addition and alteration which amounts 1.7 from the whole data. In terms of accuracy, from 121 translations of exclamatory sentences in the novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , 75 data 62 are accurate, 45 data 37.2 are less accurate and 1 datum 0.8 are inaccurate. Meanwhile, in terms of acceptability, there are 110 data 91 considered acceptable, 11 data 9 are less acceptable and there is no datum found unacceptable.

1. Conceptual Framework

Translating subtitles is not an easy job. It is very complicated because there are several aspects that must be considered by a translator, such as background or the cultural aspects of each character in the movie. Moreover, subtitles are limited by space and time. It means that the translator must translate the subtitles from the source language SL to target language TL in a very short form without changing the meaning or message of the story. A good translator must be able to translate a text from source language SL to target language TL and deliver the meaning or message of the text at the same time. In the process, a translator is not allowed to add, change, or omit the meaning or message of the text. However, translator is allowed to add, change, or omit the word with a purpose to get a natural translation. This research focuses on the translation process of additions, subtractions, and alterations as translation strategies which occur in a movie entitled The Rundown. The degree of meaning equivalence of the translation of English utterances which are translated using additions, subtractions, and alterations in The Rundown is also analyzed . In relation to the translation strategies in translating English subtitles into Indonesian subtitles in a movie entitled The Rundown , three strategies are used in this research .
