Descriptive Equivalent
The translator tries to describe the phrase of kremesan into “fried duck
crumbles”. There is no equal word for kremesan in the TL, which shares equivalent meaning. Therefore, the translator describes kremesan in the TL into
“fried duck crumbles”. Besides the datum above, there is another datum which applies this strategy in the translating process, that is 16TTV.13p.12.
This strategy is applied because the SL word refers to certain culture of the SL word and culture equivalent strategy is considered unable to give the
equivalent meaning. Therefore the translator describes and explains the word in the TL. By describing and explaining the word in the TL, the translator wants the
word which contains certain culture of the SL is translated with equivalent meaning and able to be understood by the TL reader.
