Check Your Understanding Section

Figure 4.5 Reading Strategies 1 Reading strategies is the second part of the material in Presentation Section. The aim of inserting this material in each unit is to help the user developed their reading skills. Through the short and clear explanation, the user could understand well.

2. Check Your Understanding Section

In this section, the users got the opportunity to apply what they have got in the previous section. The concept of the exercise is almost similar to the concept in the Exercise Section. The difference was that the users were instructed to discuss the reading text and its questions-answer. They were stimulated to have mindfully learning process by doing discussion. The following are the figures for Check Your Understanding Section. Figure 4.6 Check Your Understanding Home Figure 4.8 is the home of Check Your Understanding Section. The slide consisted of topic title written in red color and start button. The user may click the button to start the exercise. Figure 4.7 Instruction Slide Figure 4.9 is the instructions that must be read and understood well by the users. By following the instructions, the users could operate the program appropriately. Navigation button may be clicked after the instructions were read well. Figure 4.8 Reading Text Unit 1 Figure 4.10 is the reading text for unit 1. The file type is picture, thus it was inserted in the slide. The navigation button hyperlinked to the questions slide and vice versa. It allowed the users to find out or check out the answer they were selected. This reading text was for true false reading activity since the questions were written in one slide. Therefore, the researcher did not need to put each number of the questions to be hyperlinked. Figure 4.9 Interactive PowerPoint Application for True False IPA-TF Figure 4.11 is the example of IPA-TF. There were many components that were applied in this slide. They were read the text button, score, a set of sentencesquestions, true false button, submit button, answer key and navigation button. Figure 4.10 Reading Text Unit 2 The file type of the reading text in the designed learning model was not only picture. Figure 4.12 is another reading text which was in form of document file. The text just needed to be typed in the slide. There was not navigation button in this slide since this reading text was for multiple choices reading activity. In multiple choices exercise, each question was designed in one slide. Therefore, the reading text slide must be hyperlinked into each question slide. At the bottom of the text, there were some blue numbers that have been hyperlinked to the questions. In each question slide, there was a button that hyperlinked to the reading text slide. Figure 4.11 Multiple Choices Exercises Figure 4.13 is the example of multiple choices question. It consisted of read the text button, question number, question and options, and navigation button. Each option was hyperlinked to the feedback slide divided into two parts, correct- feedback slide and incorrect-feedback slide. The following figure is the example of the slides. Figure 4.12 Correct-feedback Slide Correct-feedback slide was the response for the correct option. The response contains of compliment and the feedback of the option such as “Excellent, you’re correct”. There was also a cartoon character that was inserted in the slide as if the character was the one who said the response to the users. There was a navigation button that hyperlinked to the last slide viewed such as question slide for example. Figure 4.13 Incorrect-feedback Slide Figure 4.15 is the example of the incorrect-feedback slide in Check Your Understanding Section. This slide was designed to give response for the incorrect answer. Similar to the correct-feedback slide, this slide used cartoon character that was apparently talking to the user. The dialog balloon contained of sympathy expression and response for incorrect option, for instance “sorry, you’re incorrect”. Those two feedback slides were hyperlinked to the options in each question slide. The correct-feedback slide was hyperlinked to one option only; while the incorrect-feedback slides were hyperlinked to the rest options.
