Authentic Audience Pedagogical Aspects of Designed Learning Model

receiving form of enchaned input such as pedagogical materials. At this point, the students processed the negotiation of meaning through the interaction. Such interaction happened in this study when the students were engaging with the material in the Presentation Section, applying the material in Check Your Understanding Section, and practicing their reading skills in Exercises Section.

2. Authentic Audience

Learner-learner interaction in this study appeared in the interaction between the students and their peer when they have discussion in pre-activity in the Presentation Section, main activity in the Check Your Understanding Section, and post activity in Mytext Exercise. In pre-activity, students were instructed to discuss about picture related to the topic material they were learning. The discussion led them to predict what they would learn in the meeting. In Check Your Understanding Section, students were instructed to discuss about the reading text and the reading comprehension questions with the answers. Students were guided to think critically in selecting the answer for each reading comprehension question. In post-activity, students were instructed to work in pairs to make a mini role play regarding to the topic they were learning. The role play script was written in Mytext program. All the learner-learner interactions in this study were conducted using English as the target language. This kind interaction was classified into the second pedagogical aspect PA2 in which learners interacted in the target language with the authentic audience. PA2 appeared in statement number 16 stating that in Check Your Understanding Section the users did a discussion with the peers 4.25. This statement was supported by the students’ statement in the interview. “The things that were discussed were the content of the text and some difficult words, the questions and the answers as well. We questioned the reason of correct and incorrect answer .” See Appendix 14, Q4, S-De. The discussion was conducted in English. The researcher invited the students to share their understanding of answering the questions and tell the reason why certain answer was considered as correct or incorrect by finding the clues from the text.
