1. Selecting the Problem
The problem was taken because there were limited studies of Cockney and Bahasa Binan especially on their word formation processes. The problem was
also taken because most of English learners found it difficult to learn the word formation processes. This phenomenon was triggered due to the lack of
information on the word formation processes of languages that was closed to students’ lives. The writer believed that this study would help Indonesian students
to understand easily the concept of word formation in language for they had been familiar with Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Binan.
2. Selecting the Reliable Dictionaries
This process was also challenging because there were only few downloadable dictionaries on the Internet. Most of the time the dictionaries of
Cockney and Bahasa Binan were the online versions that urged the writer to have the full Internet connection to analyse the words. Another problem was also
because there were rarely found the dictionaries of Bahasa Binan. Most of the time, the writer found dictionaries that were not purely the dictionaries of Bahasa
Binan. Many times the dictionaries were the combination of Bahasa Binan and Bahasa Gaul since some people considered both languages as the same languages
although actually they had some differences in vocabulary, pronunciation, and the users.
3. Designing Tables of Data Analysis
The tables were designed to accommodate the data in the dictionaries so that the data could be placed according to their characteristics of word formation.
62 Therefore, the tables actually helped the writer to see the word formation
processes of the data discretely. The tables also helped the writer to analyse the processes of word formation as well as finding out the similarities and differences
easily.
