in SL clauses were translated into TL in a form of unmarked theme and marked themes. The unmarked themes were from nominal group which covered pronoun as a head, common or proper noun as a head , nominalization, imperative, polar interrogative , WH- element and dependent clause . 3. The problems of politeness which occurred in the process of translation should be explained or paraphrase in TL in the process of translation. There are linguistic and cultural politeness in SL which are not present in TL. 4. The communications which were practiced with nina ….and ningen pakto ….. by the participants of rebu do not have equivalence in TL. 5. The politeness of rebu participants contradict with Brown and Levinson’s theory because politeness in practicing rebu is to avoid to speak directly and there should be a mediator to convey their message and they avoid to see face to face. 6. There are three kinds of rebu in Karonese society, namely: Rebu between mami and kela, Rebu between bengkila and permen, Rebu between turangku and turangku. The translation procedures for these three kinds of rebu should be translated by translation procedure of couplets. They are descriptive equivalence and transference procedure.

7.2 Suggestions

The practicing of rebu should be preserved as a cultural national asset. Rebu is unique for Karonese society but for other people who do not understand Universitas Sumatera Utara rebu they think it is against the human rights , because people think that communication should not be limited , they need to express their notion as a symbol of individual right, but it is different for participants of rebu they can not communicate among themselves directly and it reflects the misinterpretation of those who can not practice rebu and for those do not understand rebu. Rebu cultural expressions in SL have no equivalences in TL, this circumstance makes difficult to transfer the message of SL into the TL. Cultural problem is one of the translation problem arose while translating rebu text into TL. The cultural equivalence of SL was hard to find in the TL . For specific culture –bound terms which were untranslatable should be resolved by using paraphrase and transference translation procedures. The steps could be used firstly by reading the SL and determine the problems and find preliminary solution. The solution sometimes unsatisfied therefore the process of revising was done repeatly to resolve the problems. For the translators and translation researchers, translation methods and procedures are workable to resolve the problems in translating cultural texts in SL into the TL. The researcher suggest s to apply Newmark’s translation methods and procedures to translate rheme progression in other culture texts. These kind of analyses can also be carried out in Karonese culture such as translating wedding ceremonies texts, and analyzing the Karonese dancing rules. Other cultural sources like ndilo wari udan ‘asking for rain fall’ and sumbang si siwah ‘nine incests’ texts could also be analyzed for the themes of text using interdisciplinary approach. The focus will be also to explore whether there are any Universitas Sumatera Utara connection between wedding ceremony texts and sumbang si siwah texts with rebu texts.
