translating nominal groups of SL into TL there were some untranslatable cultural terms.
For nominalization which is also known as heavy subject, it has a function as subject in declarative clauses. Each subject as unmarked theme was translated
by additional information to get the message clear in the TL. si in SL is used for thing and people as to introduce the relative clause in nominalization and it was
translated into who for people and which for thing in TL. The nominalization’s
structure rules in SL are nominal group plus relative clause The addition of WH-interrogative in TL of clause 103 was caused by the
shift. It has different amount of imperative after process of translating , marked themes have been found in six clauses of SL and marked themes in TL have
been found in five clauses. Each dependent clauses of SL and TL has 11 marked themes and two unmarked themes.
6.1.2 The marked theme in declarative clauses of rebu texts in SL and TL
The marked themes of declarative clauses of rebu texts in SL and TL are the adverbial group and the prepositional phrase, they were found in the analysis.
6.1.3. Specific culture bound terms of rebu texts in Karonese society
Translating SCBT of rebu texts was focused on conveying the meaning in
SL into TL. The SCBT are explained with the same meaning in the TL culture. Translating the words kuja nge
, only as ‘where’ would reduce the meaning nge, it was not translated. The cases in untranslatable culture bound-terms were resolved
by using couplets procedure , they are transference and descriptive equivalence procedures.

6.1.4 Politeness of Rebu texts in Karonese society
The expression of ndu is linguistic politeness as the second person possessive and the suffix
–ta in clause 58 to show togetherness of owning a thing. What is polite in SL is not always polite in TL. Politeness were found among
participants of rebu in SL by using a media, a separation, certain expressions, and a third person. Politeness in the SL were conveyed by four kinds of politeness,
first an inanimate media as a mediatory to communicate. The practicing of
avoidance to speak directly between mami with kela, bengkila with permain , and turangku with turangku is polite culture.
The using of nina kela, nina turangku, nina mami, nina permain or nina bengkila are applied to avoid talking directly. The expression of ningen pak kela,
ningen pak turangku, ningen pak mami, ningen pak permain or bengkila e is applied if there is a mediator among the participants of rebu. Someone who is
close to the participants of rebu can be applied as a media to transfer their message. It was found in the process of translating rebu text and nowadays it is
still applied as far as the researcher experienced.
