Discussion of the Final Product

This workbook contains materials and tasks. The activities are divided into three sections such as pre-listening stage, while-listening stage, and post-listening stage. The revisions were conducted after assessing the media. There were ten English teachers as the participants who revised the media. Some suggestions for the better media were given by them. The revisions were done based on the suggestions. Moreover, the evaluation was done after the implementations. The syllabus and program content, the material of instructions, and the media got more than 83 in percentage of items based on the English teachers’ evaluation questionnaires. It means that the video program is feasible for the teaching of listening. Based on the results of the research study, video program is good media for teaching listening in the third grade students of elementary school. It could be proved by some aspects. First, video program as interesting media could grab student’s attention. The students said that they are happy using video program in learning listening. They are very excited when video is played. They like to watch the colourful cartoons. Besides, they also said that they have big desire to learn English more using the media. It means that the media increased the students’ motivation in learning English. Second, the activities in the video program make the students more active in the teaching and learning process. There are many different kinds of activities which are provided in the pre, while, and post listening. Many activities make the students don’t get bored. They enjoy the teaching and learning process well.

B. Suggestions

Based on the conclusion explained above, there are some suggestions for: 1. English Teachers of Elementary School Interesting media are needed in the teaching and learning process. The students like to learn English use interesting media because it will grab their attention. The English teacher can use the video program as an interesting media for the teaching of listening to the third grade students of elementary schools. Besides, interesting media can be used to increase the students’ motivation in learning English. 2. Headmaster of Elementary School The media should be available in the schools in order to support the teaching and learning process. Besides, headmaster should encourage the teacher to use interesting media in the classroom activities. The teachers can use video program as an interesting media in the teaching and learning process. Headmaster can also facilitate the teachers with supporting equipment that can be used in the video program. It makes the teachers have access to the media. Moreover, video program will make the students do not get bored in the classroom. 3. Material Writers and Media Developers Developing video program is highly recommended as appropriate media for the teaching of listening in the elementary school. It can be alternative media because it can grab students’ attentions and improve their motivation in the teaching and learning process. The material writers are expected to improve the
