Sapeken archipelago at Madura, Sumenep regency has several productive ecosystem e.g: coral reef, seagrass, mangrove and beach ecosystem, but not
fully used. With potential resource and ecosystem services in Sapeken archipelago make it can developed for fisheries and tourism activity. Small island
has several limitation as remoteness, isolation, water, small area and resouce scarcity. This limitation must be notification for all resource utilize in small island.
This suggest sustainable tourism development in Sapeken archipelago must do with valuing carrying capacity which need for supporting resource and space.
This study has four main objective that include the following : 1 to analyze socio ecological system in Sapeken archipelago; 2 to arrange region suitability
for tourism development in Sapeken archipelago; 3 to estimate tourism carrying capacity based valuing region potential to resource utilization optimize; and 4
optimaze utilizing Sapeken archipelago for tourism use.
This study showed planning of tourism activities ecotourism in Sapeken archipelago by looking at balance status budgets ecosystem services, it is
possible to do. Condition of some natural capital assets socio ecological system are still able to provide a number of ecosystem services that can be used as the
attraction of ecotourism.
Sapeken archipelago have suitable area for tourism as follow : a dive tourism as suitable S with suitable area as 39.77 ha and conditinal suitabe SB
as 1167.82 ha ; b snorkeling tourism as suitable S with suitable area as 361.56 ha and conditinal suitabe SB as 535.01 ha; c fishing tourism as conditional
suitable SB with area as 1493.38 ha; d mangrove tourism as suitable S with suitable area as 3927.09 ha and conditinal suitabe SB as 97.67 ha; and e
beach tourism as conditional suitable SB with area as 39.77.
Estimating tourism sustainability in Sapeken archipelago used for generate number of tourist each year can be support without cause environment damage.
