A. Accuracy
To know the accuracy of each datum, I calculated the score of each datum which is gave by the three raters to get the mean, the formula can be seen as follows,

After making the statistical calculation of the data, they are then classified into three categories which are more specified, as follows:
a. Accurate, covers the data with mean score 1.0-1.5 b. Less Accurate covers the data with mean score 1.6-2.5
c. Inaccurate, covers the data with mean score 2.6-3.0 To find out the overall data of accuracy of the translations in the film
‘Casanova’, the researcher applied the following calculation:

Based on the result of the questionnaires, I counted the average of the total mean of the accuracy as can be seen follows:

Based on the table above, among 330 data, 310 data 93.94 are accurate, 18 data 5.45 are less accurate and 2 0.61 are inaccurate because the meaning of the
address forms are not conveyed at all in the target language. Meanwhile, from the result of the average of total mean above 1.13 shows
that the translation is nearly accurate. Accurate here is represented by 1, it means that the address form is translated exactly in the target language and can be fully
understood without any rewriting. Besides the meaning, exactly here also related to the correctness of the address form is for. The excessive 0, 1 point is predicted that it is
caused by some words that are not well translated, or even are not translated at all, i.e. these are omitted or deleted.
a. Accurate
cxxi The mean score of the data in this category is in the range of 1 – 1, 5. From 330
data, 310 data 93.94 belong to this category. The data classified in this category is based on the following characteristic; if the meaning of the address forms in the
sentence from the source language to the target language is translated exactly and can be fully understood without any rewriting. Besides the meaning, exactly here also
related to the correctness of the address form is for. Example 1:
SL: Prince, we were just talking about you. What brings you here? TL: Pangeran, kami baru saja membicarakan Tuan. Kenapa Tuan kemari?
020CsvD110:40 The example above is found in one part of the movie in which Father Dalfonso,
the inquisitor of the church in Venice, Italy welcomed the Doge who has an important position in political field in Venice and who also Casanova’s friend. Here, Father
Dalfonso has just made a decision to punish Casanova the main character of the film. As seen, you which refers to the Doge uttered by Father Dalfonso is translated into
Tuan .
The mean score of datum number 020 is 1. All raters classified the translation into accurate by giving score 1 for the datum. They agreed that the address form of
source language was fully conveyed into target language and rewriting was not needed. The assessment showed that they considered the translation to be perfect.
Here, I agreed with all the raters’ assessment since the strategy of using the term Tuan in the translation is correct and can be understood easily since it can illustrate that the
cxxii interlocutor of the speaker here is a man. Beside, this the term is suitable with the
setting of the film 18

SL: Signorina Bruni, my name is not Salvato. You see before you is the most
devoted and fortunated fiancé, Pietro Papprizzio, all away from Genoa.
TL: Signorina Bruni, namaku bukan Salvato. Didepanmu adalah tunanganmu

The example above is found in one part of the movie in which Casanova pretends as Pietro Papprizzio in the Bruni’s family house. Since Francesca Bruni has
never seen Lord Pietro Papprizzio, her fiancé, Casanova uses this situation to make a lie confession that he is Francesca’s fiancé. As seen, Signorina Bruni and you which
refers to Francesca or Signorina Bruni uttered by Casanova are translated into Signorina
Bruni and –mu. The mean of datum number 171 is 1.33 which means it is quite accurate. For
this datum, rater 1 and 3 gave score 1, while rater 2 gave 2 for it. Basically, there is no mistake on this translation since it can be categorized as foreignization translation.
Nevertheless, all raters agreed if the term signorina maintained by the subtitler is translated into Nona, the equivalent meaning for signorina since this term is
considered uncommon for the target audience. Therefore, the translation will be, Nona Bruni, namaku bukan Salvato. Didepanmu adalah tunanganmu yang sangat
beruntung, Pietro Papprizzio, datang dari Genoa. However, I as the researcher, I
prefer to use the transference strategy by maintaining the unique Italian term signorina
cxxiii in order to bring the cultural nuances of the film but by adding a note after the form, as
can be seen below,
‘Signorina Nona Bruni, namaku bukan Salvato. Didepanmu adalah tunanganmu
yang sangat beruntung, Pietro Papprizzio, datang dari Genoa. However, considering
that a translation on film is limited by the space of screen, it is better to put this note only in some translation of the dialogues especially in the beginning and middle of the
film. It is very useful for the target audience to understand this term.
b. Less Accurate
All the data belong to this category have score of mean in the range of 1.6 to 2.5. From 330 data, 18 data 5.45 are considered less accurate. The following
data will be the examples: Example 1:
SL: Any sound of Casanova, Sir? TL: Ada berita tentang Casanova, Tuan?
216CsvD213:49 The example above is found in one part of the movie in which Andolini asked
Bishop Pucci whether he had seen Casanova yet. Here, Bishop Pucci and his staff named Andolini are searching for Casanova in the Carnival. As seen, Sir which refers
to Bishop Pucci uttered by Andolini is translated into Tuan. The mean of the datum above is 1.77 which means less accurate. Here, R3 gave
score 1 for the datum as it was an appropriate translation and there was no rewriting needed. Meanwhile, R1 and R2 gave score 2 since the translation of address form is
translated less exactly and needed to be rewrote because the choice of word is not
cxxiv correct. Both raters suggested that the form Tuan is changed into Bapa which is more
appropriate in Indonesian language. Here, I agreed with R1 and R2 because a catholic priest or bishop in Indonesia is usually called ‘Bapa’. Therefore, the translation will
be, Ada berita tentang Casanova, Bapa?
Example 2:
SL: You see? The death weight of men TL: Kau lihat? Beban mati pria.
016CsvD109:53 The above example is found in one part of the film in which Francesca Bruni
who pretends as a man in the debate forum, tells that a man can only make a trouble such as the guy who just arrested by the Bishop in their debate room. Here, all the
participants are men since at that time, only a man who is allowed to have a presentation in a public forum and learned in university. As seen, you refers to all
audience in the forum uttered by Francesca is translated into kau. This example is categorized into this classification since the mean score of the
datum is 2.33. Here, R1 and R2 gave 2 while R3 gave 3. All raters agreed that the translation above was less accurate or even inaccurate. R1 said that the form you
should be changed into ‘Saudara-Saudara for the equivalent meaning of you since they have a distant relationship. While R3 stated that based on the context of situation,
the translation of you should be changed into plural. Here, I have the same idea with all the raters since based on the context of situation, it is cleared that the participants are
plural, non-familial and have a distant relationship. In Indonesia, the form kau is only used for single participant and in informal situation. Besides, it cannot illustrate the
cxxv participants of the speaker. Therefore, I agreed with the suggestion from R2 to change
the translation became Tuan-Tuan lihat? Beban mati pria. c. Inaccurate
The last category consists of data which are not translated accurately into the target language. The data can be included in this classification if the mean score of
the data is in the range 2, 6 – 3. Here, the translator failed in transferring the message from source language into target language. Out of 330 data, there are only 2 data
which belongs to this category or about 0.61. Example 1:
SL: Yes, oh dear Master Guardi. Take me on your teaching. I beg you. I’ll pay you handsome whatever you like, I’ll pay it.
TL: Ya, Maestro Guardi. Aku mohon, tolong ajari aku. Aku bersedia
membayar mahal. Terserah berapa, akan ku baya r. 158CsvD201:31
The above example is found in one part of the movie in which Lord Papprizzio begged to Casanova who at that time pretended as Bernardo Guardi a famous writer
about love and woman to change his appearance became slimmer, attractive and fashionable and teach him how to treat a woman well. All these things are very
important for Lord Papprizzio since he would meet his fiancé that he has never met before. As seen, dear Maestro Guardi and you which refers to Casanova uttered by
Lord Papprizzio is translated into Maestro Guardi and zero form you not translated in TL
.
cxxvi For the datum above, R1 R3 gave score 3 while R2 gave 2. As the result of
the assessment, the data has a mean 2.77 which means inaccurate. R1 stated that the translation of Master should be Tuan. R2 suggested the alternative translation became
Ya, Maestro Guardi. Aku mohon, tolong ajari aku. Aku bersedia membayar berapa
pun yang Tuan mau.
While R3 stated that there is a meaning which is lost because of the omission of the address form. Basically, all the opinions of the raters are almost the
same. The raters agreed that the meaning of the address form in the sentence from the source language to the target language is not translated accurately and needed to be
rewritten. However, based on my point of view, the term Maestro can still be used in the translation since it is also means a master or a teacher, a person who has enough
knowledge within a field. It is a highly respectful term. This term is specifically used in Italy. Therefore, it is much fitted with the cultural background of the film. For the
result of the translation, I tend to support R2 assessment. Example 2:
SL; Actually, Your Eminence, I believe it’s because hot air rises,
counteracting the gravitational forces of…witch craft. TL: Sebenarnya, itu karena tekanan udara panas terhadap gravitasi…ilmu

The example above is found in one part of the movie in which Andolini, bishop Pucci’s staff tried to explain to his master about air balloon but stopped it suddenly
when his master looked at him angrily and agreed it was a witch craft. As seen, Your

which refers to Bishop Pucci uttered by Andolini is not translated or omitted by the translator.
The mean of data above is 3. It means that all raters gave score 3 and assumed that the translation was inaccurate. It is clear that the translator did not translate that
address form at all. From the assessment, R2 said that it shouldn’t be deleted and
should be translated became Sebenarnya Bapa, itu karena tekanan udara panas
terhadap gravitasi…ilmu sihir. Here, I have the same opinion with the raters. The employment of the identity
group marker ‘Your Eminence’ helps Andolini as the speaker to convey the message more polite since his interlocutor is not only a bishop who has a high position in
Catholic Rome but also his master. The omission of the address form not only changes the formality of the utterance but also diminishes the strategy of the speaker, in this
case to establish sense of politeness and respect. Therefore, I agree with the suggestion of R2 to translate the form of address of ‘Your Eminence’ became Bapa in the TL.
B. Acceptability
