Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle 15-30 cm long, linear; primary panicle branches accrescent to a central axis. Spikelets subtended by an involucre. Fertile spikelets sessile, 1 in the cluster. Involucre composed of bristles, 20-30 mm long; involucral bristles deciduous with the fertile spikelets, numeruous, 20-30 mm long, glabrous. Fertile spikelets comprising 1 basal sterile florets, 1 fertile florets, without rhachilla extension; lanceolate, dorsally compressed, 5-6 mm long, falling entire, deciduous with accessory branch structures. Glumes dissimilar, shorter than spikelet; thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume oblong, 0.4 length of spikelet, transparent, no keels, 0-nerved; no lateral nerves, apex acuminate. Upper glume oblong, 3 mm long, 0.6 length of spikelet, membraneous, no keels, 1-2-nerved, no lateral nerves, apex obtuse. Florets: basal sterile florets male, or barren, with or without palea; lemma of lower sterile floret elliptic, as long as spikelet, chartaceous, 5- nerved, acute. Fertile lemma lanceolate, 5-7 mm long, chartaceous, no keel, margins flat, apex acute; palea chartaceous. Anthers 3. Notes Found in Malesia, and Southwestern Pasific.
