50.2. Isachne albomarginata P. Jansen. Reinwardtia 22: 279. 1953.

Isachne cartilagineomarginata Ohwi, unpublished. Plants perennial, caespitose, loosely clumped. Culms 15-30 cm long. Nodes bearded; internodes 2-4 cm long, distally glabrous. Sheaths 1-2 cm long, surface glabrous, or pubescent, outer margins hairy. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Blades 3-5 cm by 4-5 mm, linear, or lanceolate; margin cartilaginous, apex acuminate, the surface puberulous, hairy abaxially, or on both sides. Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open, obvate, 3-5 cm long, effuse; primary branches ascending, 2-3 cm long; capillary, flexuous, smooth. Spikelets solitary: fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels 2-3 mm long, tip rectangular. Fertile spikelets comprising 2 fertile florets, without rachilla extension; obovate, 1-1.2 mm long, dorsally compressed, breaking up at maturity, disarticulating above glumes but not between florets. Glumes similar, deciduous, reaching apex of florets, thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume ovate, 1-1.2 mm long, membraneous, purple, without keels, 5-nerved; lateral nerves obscure; surface glabrous, apex acute. Upper glume ovate, 1.5 mm long, membraneous, purple, without keels, 5-nerved; lateral nerves obscure; surface glabrous, apex obtuse. Florets: fertile lemma ovate, 1-1.2 mm long, cartilaginous, without keel; surface puberulous, margins involute, apex obtuse. Palea cartilaginous. Anthers 3. Caryopsis with adherent pericarp. Notes Found in Malesia. Distribution North: Minahasa, Alt. 1100 m; Mt. Soputan, Alt. 1200 m. Habitat Opened area. Specimen examined Koorders 19784 ß, 19808 ß, 17271 ß BO. 50.3. Isachne brassii Hitch. Proc. Linn. Soc. New South Wales 54: 146. 1929. Plants perennial, decumbent, rooting from lower nodes. Culms c. 35 cm long, 1 mm thick. Nodes glabrous; internodes 4 cm long, distally glabrous. Sheaths 1 cm long, glabrous on surface to pubescent, outer margin hairy. Ligule c. 1.5 mm long, a fringe of hairs. Blades c. 5 cm long by c. 5 mm long, lanceolate, surface scabrous, rough on both side, glabrous to pilose, sparsely hairy. Inflorescence a panicle, open, elliptic, c. 7 cm long, contracted about primary branches, primary panicle branches ascending. Spikelet c. 1.5 mm long, comprising 2 fertile florets, without rachilla extension, orbicular, tilted on the pedicel, dorsally compressed, breaking up at maturity, disarticulating below each fertile floret; rachilla internodes flattened. Glumes similar, deciduous, reaching apex of florets, thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume c. 1.4 mm long, as long as upper glume, as long as spikelet, membranuous, without keels, surface glabrous, apex obtuse. Upper glume obovate, as long as adjacent fertile lemma, membranuous, without keels, surface glabrous, apex obtuse; fertile florets with the lowest dissimilar, lowest fertile lemma 1.05 times length of adjacent lemma, thinner than adjacent lemma; fertile lemma 1.4 mm long, elliptic, coriaceous, shiny, without keel, lemma surface glabrous, margins involute, apex obtuse; palea coriaceous, 2-nerved.
