On the other hand, some areas in eastern Indonesia recorded 6926 villages that have the potential of solar energy is quite large, up to now has not been have electricity PLN. The villages are located in the provinces of Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, Papua Barat, Nusa Tenggara Timur NTT and Nusa Tenggara Barat NTB ESDM. 2016. In this condition, the utilization of solar energy into electrical energy through the installation of solar power plants PLTS be a promising alternative if PLTS technology available in the country. In this regard, the role of industry to promote the development of solar power installations through the availability of technology at relatively competitive prices becomes important. Meanwhile, government support is quite in line with the governments commitment to increase the electrification ratio target this year to reach 90 and utilization of renewable energy technologies to meet the electricity needs of society, particularly in the provinces of Papua and NTT are still low electrification ratio. The purpose of this study was to assess the capabilities of the PLTS industrial technology to support the utilization of electrical energy from solar energy in a sustainable manner.The method of study used a explorative qualitative approach with the analytical framework is built from the concept of technology capability according to Lall 1992 and the measurement model of technological capabilities Khamseh 2014. The study show several important issues like the technological capabilities solar power industry in Indonesia is still relatively low due to the development and innovation of components but the design of the system is more developed. Potensi sumberdaya energi terbarukan di Indonesia relatif besar, khususnya energi surya terkait letak geografisnya dengan intensitas radiasi surya rata-rata 4,8 kWhm 2 per hari. Pada sisi yang lain, sebagian wilayah di Indonesia Timur tercatat 6.926 desa yang memiliki potensi energi surya yang cukup besar, sampai saat ini belum teraliri listrik PLN. Desa- desa tersebut terdapat di provinsi Maluku, Maluku Utara, Papua, Papua Barat, Nusa Tengggara Timur NTT, dan Nusa Tenggra Barat NTB ESDM. 2016. Pada kondisi seperti ini, maka pemanfaatan energi surya menjadi energi listrik melalui instalasi pembangkit listrik tenaga surya PLTS menjadi alternatif yang menjanjikan jika teknologi PLTS tersedia di negeri ini. Dalam hal ini, peran industri untuk mendorong terbangunnya instalasi PLTS melalui ketersediaan teknologi dengan harga yang relatif bersaing menjadi penting. Sementara itu, dukungan pemerintah cukup besar sejalan dengan komitmen pemerintah untuk meningkatkan rasio elektrifikasi target tahun ini mencapai 90 dan pemanfaatan teknologi energi terbarukan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan energi listrik masyarakat, khususnya di provinsi Papua dan NTT yang rasio elektrifikasinya masih rendah.
