There are three translation strategies found in the datum above. Those are:
i. Subtraction
As stated in the explanation before, this strategy is subtracting the structural element from the ST. This datum applies this strategy in the part the
sound was so melodic which is translated into suaranya begitu melodius. The auxiliary verb was is not translated into the TT. The TT does not use auxiliary
verb in its sentence, that is why the translator omits was.
ii. Synonym
According to Suryawinata and Hariyanto, a translator is able to choose a word in the TT which has close meaning to the ST 2003:73.
This strategy is applied in the part the sound was so melodic, and it is translated into suaranya begitu
melodius. The word melodic becomes melodius in the TT. According to OALD, melodic meansconnected with the main tune in a piece of music. Apparently, Oxford also
considers the word melodic is equal to the word melodious.Melodious itself, based on OALD, means
pleasant to listen to, like music.
Then, in the TT, KBBI defines melodius as something
related to rhythm; pleasant to listen to because it is
rhyming.The word melodius in the TT is synonymous to the word melodic. Both of them has a close meaning which is related or connected to the tune and
rhythm of the music.
iii. Addition Semantic
In order to give the TT readers a smooth and proper sentence, this strategy is suitable to be applied. Additional strategy can be seen in the part I
knew I wanted to hear it again, which is translated into aku tahu bahwa aku ingin mendengarnya lagi. There is word bahwa in the TT to bridge the clause
aku tahu and aku ingin. This strategy is applied to smoothen the translation of the clause I knew I wanted. When the translator does not use additional, then it
would be aku tahu aku ingin .... The sentence is considered strange by the TT readers because there are two verbs in one clause without divider.

The datum above has one strategy, which is transposition. The strategy is applied in the part I felt oddly paralyzed, which becomes anehnya aku merasa
lumpuh. The position of the adverb oddly is changing. In the ST, the word oddly is after the verb felt, while in the TT, it is placed before the subject, I. Even
though the position changes, the meaning does not. This strategy is needed because when the word oddly in the TTstays in the same postion as the ST then
it will be strange and not acceptable. The adveb oddly is placed even before the subject in the TT to describe how the main character, John, respond or think
about his feeling to Savannah.
