i. Addition Semantic

This datum has two addition and both of them is in the semantic strategy. It is in the sentence as crazy as it sounded, which translated into walaupun kedengarannya gila. The translator has added the word walaupun in the beginning of the sentence. As crazy as it sounded can literally be translated into segila yang terdengar or segila kedengarannya, but in order to result a proper sentence in the TT, the translator tries to make a contrast between a word crazy - which generally describes a negative meaning – and the sentence in the next clause, which is she was becoming part of me, describes a positive and romantic sense. That is why, the word walaupun is added to reveal the different atmosphere between the two clauses. So that, the TT readers understand the condition between John and Savannah, after everything they have been through, although it may sound crazy, but John feels that Savannah is now a part of him. The second addition is in the clause she was becoming part of me and translated into dia mulai menjadi bagian diriku. The translator has added the word mulai in the TT. This strategy is done to adjust the translation with the tense used in the ST, so that the TT readers understand the detailed point of that part of the story. The ST applies past continousprogressive tense in that clause. As we all know, the use of past continous tense is to state that a certain action or event is happening in a certain time in the past and it is not yet ended http:www.edufind.comenglish-grammarpast-continuous-tense, so, the author wants to emphisize to the readers that John‟s feeling about Savannah had became a part of him, begins in that part of the story. In order to clarify the use of past continous tense, the translator adds the word mulai to explain that start from that part of the story, John has a feeling that Savannah is a part of him. ii.
