Data no 2STA27 and
when it is translated into mataku, then it will be understandable because the previous context is describing about Savannah‟s eyes.
iii. Addition Semantic
This strategy is different from the previous addition strategy. This addition strategy is included in the semantic strategy and it is done for resulting
a clear meaning for a translation Suryawinata and Hariyanto, 2003:74.On the datum above, this strategy is applied in the part I felt something click, which is
translated into aku merasa ada yang berbunyi klik. In the ST, there is only mentioned something click, but the translator defines it into ada yang berbunyi
klik. The translator adds the word berbunyi to describe it. She tries to explain to the TT readers that something click meant by the author is something which
sounded click happens when John and Savannah are staring at each other.
iv. Subtraction
This strategy is done by omitting structural element in the ST Suryawinata and Hariyanto, 2003:68. This strategy is applied in the part there
was something there, which is translated into ada sesuatu di sana. In the ST, the structural element is in there was. The use of auxiliary verb in that sentence is
for the sake of correct structure, but when it is translated into the TT, the auxiliary verb will automatically be omitted. Then, the result is ada sesuatu di
sana. This strategy is applied because the different sentence structure in both of the languages. In English, this auxiliary verbs, which is was, is to show the past
tense used in the sentence, but in Bahasa Indonesia, there is no such grammatical rule for explaining the past, present, or future.
