CHAPTER VIII CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
8.1 Conclusion 8.1.1 Patterns of the Logical Meanings of TBWS
The patterns of the logical meanings which occur in the TBWS are classified into three types, they are expansion, projection, and complex mixed
pattern. The expansions which occur in the TBWS are classified into elaboration,
extension and enhancement. 1.
The elaborations which occur in the TBWS are classified into paratactic and hypotactic specification, paratactic and hypotactic exemplification,
and paratactic and hypotactic commentary. 2.
The extensions which occur in the TBWS are classified into paratactic and hyp
otactic extension “and”, paratactic and hypotactic extension “or”, and paratactic and hypotactic extension “but”.
3. The enhancements which occur in the TBWS are classified into paratactic
and hypotactic spatial enhancement, paratactic and hypotactic temporal enhancement, paratactic and hypotactic conditional enhancement,
paratactic and hypotactic causal enhancement, paratactic and hypotactic concessive enhancement, and paratactic and hypotactic manner
enhancement.

The locution projections which occur in the TBWS are classified into paratactic locution projection and hypotactic locution projection.
2. The idea projections which occur in the TBWS are classified into
paratactic idea projection and idea locution projection. 3.
The Idea propositions which occur in the TBWS are classified into paratactic idea proposition and idea proposition projection.
4. The idea proposals which occur in the TBWS are classified into
paratactic idea proposal and idea proposition. The complex mixed patterns which occur in the TBWS are classified into:
1. complex mixed elaboration head pattern; 2. complex mixed extension head pattern; 3. complex mixed enhancement head pattern; 4. paratactic complex mixed
locution head; and 5. hypotactic complex mixed locution head pattern.
8.1.2 How the Patterns of the Logical Meanings which Occur in the TBWS are represented into English as they are
The way the patterns of the logical meanings which occur in the TBWS are represented into the patterns of the logical meanings as they are in English is by
the bottom-up translation approach as a translation strategy which involves five stages as follows: 1 the analysis of the ST into clause simplex and cluase
complexes; 2 the analysis of the components of the clause simplex of the clause complexes based on the transitivity system; 3 The analysis of how the clause

553 simplex create the patterns of the logical meanings in each of the clause
complexes based on the logico-semantic relation; 4 the transfer of the pattern of the logical meanings of the ST into the TT by selecting the equivalent component
from the TL to replace the component of the ST to represent the equivalent pattern of the logical meaning into the TT, and 5 the analysis of functional equivalence
of the patterns of the logical meanings between the ST and TT based on the transitivity system and logico-semantic relation. By the application of the bottom-
up approach as the translation strategy, the patterns of the logical meanings of the ST are represented into the patterns of the logical meanings of the TT as they are.
8.1.3 The Reason why the Patterns of the Logical Meanings of ST are Translated Meaningfully into Functional Equivalent TT
There are some reasons why the patterns of the logical meanings which occur in the ST are represented into the patterns of the logical meanings as they
are in the TT. First, the translation strategy used in the translation process to represent the patterns of the logical meanings is the bottom-up translation
approach. Second, by the botton-up approach, the translation process begins by analyzing the patterns of the logical meanings which occur in the ST the way the
grammar of the Toba Batak language works to create them in the ST as they are. Third, the approach represents the patterns of the logical meanings which occur in
the ST into the TT as they are. Fourth, the approach analyzes the functional equivalence between the ST and the TT by cross-checking the the function of all
of the lexicogrammatical units of every clause of all of the clause complexes

554 between the ST and TT. Fifth, the crosscheck is done unit per unit between the ST
and TT. The unit of a clause in a clause complex in the ST is crosschecked to the relevant unit of the relevant clause in the relevant clause complex in the TT. A
match in function on the level of transitivity system means that there is a functional equivalence on the level of clause between the ST and TT. A match in
function on the level of logico-semantic relation on the level of clause complex complex between the ST and TT means that there is a functional equivalence on
the level of clause complex between the ST and TT. The reason why the patterns of the logical meanings of the ST are represented as they are in the TT because the
application of bottom-up translation strategy in the translation process are used to represent the patterns of the logical meanings and it is conducted consistently
throughout the data of the pattern of the logical meanings.
